David Rose is a Partner in the law firm of Vandeventer Black LLP, where he manages the firm’s Pasadena office. David has been engaged in civil litigation for 30 years. His practice has focused on construction defect litigation, including the defense of general contractors, numerous trade sub-contractors, and developers. David’s professional liability practice includes design professionals, attorneys, accountants, real estate professionals as well as the representation of architectural and engineering firms in a variety of matters. David also serves as antitrust lawyer and corporate counsel for trade associations and as appointed counsel in several Directors and Officers matters. David is the founder of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts-LA, which is now California Lawyers for the Arts (“CLA”). He also represents insurance carriers in coverage questions and analysis as well as in coverage litigation. He has conducted over 14 jury trials involving architects and engineers’ defense, legal malpractice, general liability, product liability, and countless bench trials, arbitrations and mediations.
After graduating from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1983, David moved to Southern California. He and his wife Shelley live in South Pasadena and have three children: Sam (14), Stella (10) and Emma (8). From 1999 to 2003, David served on the City Counsel for the City of South Pasadena, and was elected Mayor for the 2001-2002 year. David is also a Probation Monitor for the State Bar of California.
David has been an avid scuba diver for over 41 years. He also enjoys biking, but is particularly fond of golf and the humility that the game demands.
