Gretchen is an attorney with Vandeventer Black and concentrates her law practice in Construction and Government Contracts. 

Gretchen earned her J.D. (cum laude) from University of Richmond School of Law, where she served on the American Bar Association Client Counseling and Negotiation Board (Secretary 2005, 2006), earned top score in the 2007 Virginia Trial Lawyers Association Trial Competition and was a regional competitor in the 2007 National Trial Competition. She also served on the Trial Advocacy Board, was a member of Phi Delta Phi, and participated in a summer program at Cambridge University.  Gretchen earned her B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Virginia Tech, where served as Vice President of Virginia Tech’s chapter of Chi Epsilon, the National Civil Engineering Honor Society. She was also a member of the 2001 regional championship American Society of Civil Engineers Concrete Canoe Team.

Prior to her law career, Gretchen worked with Parsons Brinckerhoff Construction Services on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Replacement Project in Northern Virginia.

Gretchen is admitted to practice in all Virginia state courts and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Virginia. She is based in the Norfolk office.
