Marshall is a partner with Vandeventer Black and concentrates his law practice in business, finance, health care and intellectual property law. He has over 20 years experience in the business and finance fields, including formation of new business ventures, mergers and acquisitions of all sizes, joint ventures, preparation and/or negotiation of business clients’ key contracts, traditional real estate and asset-based bank financing, as well as more creative private financing techniques.
Marshall’s intellectual property experience focuses on trademark and copyright registration as well as protection, sale and/or licensing of all forms of intellectual property, including patents and trade secrets. Marshall was recently named as one of Virginia Business’ “Legal Elite” in the area of Intellectual Property.
Marshall’s health care law experience also spans over 20 years, during which time he has assisted hospitals, physician practices, ambulatory care centers and long term care facilities with a wide variety of their business and health care law needs.
Marshall earned a B.A. from Haverford College and a J.D. from the University of Virginia.
He is a member of the Virginia State Bar’s Business, Intellectual Property and Health Law sections. Similarly, he is a member of the American Bar Association’s Business, Intellectual Property and Health Law sections, as well as the Forum Committee on Franchising.
Marshall is Immediate Past President of the Virginia Zoological Society, continues to serve on that Board and serves on the Board of the Tidewater Chapter of the American Red Cross.
