Ned is an attorney with Vandeventer Black and concentrates his practice in construction, business and commercial litigation, insurance litigation and professional liability defense. He has over 25 years of construction and commercial litigation experience representing architects, engineers, contractors, realtors and liability carriers.
His construction practice focuses on the defense of design professionals against personal injury and economic loss claims.
His litigation practice extends to a wide variety of commercial contexts such as insurance coverage and directors and officers litigation.
Ned frequently speaks on the construction industry and insurance issues and has authored or co-authored several articles exploring issues arising out of efforts to use tort law to redress contract grievances. Some of his noted publications include: The Collision of Tort and Contract in the Construction Industry, 21 U. Rich. L. Rev. 457 (1987) and Lloyd’s Int’l Construction L. Rev. 5 (1988) - co-authored; Professional Negligence Claims and Constructive Fraud Principles Do Not Mix, 10 (Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys) J. of Civil Litigation 3 (1998) - co-authored and The Economic Loss Rule in Virginia, 12 (Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys) J. of Civil Litigation 391 (2000).
Ned earned a B.A. and a J.D. from the University of Virginia. He is licensed to practice in Virginia and is admitted to practice in all U. S. District Courts in Virginia and the U. S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Circuits.
