Adam is a partner with Vandeventer Black and concentrates his law practice in workers’ compensation defense and labor and employment.  He works with insurance carriers and self-insured businesses defending workers’ compensation claims filed pursuant to the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Act and the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. He has litigated multiple claims before the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission, Department of Labor and Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs. Adam also works with risk managers, human resource professionals and executives on preventive strategies. He is a frequent lecturer on workers’ compensation issues. Some of Adam’s notable engagements include representing some of the region’s largest insurance carriers, mutual associations and third party administrators.

Adam received a B.S. from Vanderbilt University and a J.D. from The College of William & Mary School of Law.

Adam is admitted to practice in Virginia, the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Virginia, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He is a member of the Norfolk and Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Virginia and American Bar Associations (Labor & Employment and Workers’ Compensation Sections), as well as the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys. He was named Chair of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorney’s workers’ compensation section in 2006.
