Banking and Finance

Vandeventer Black's Banking & Finance team is seasoned in a broad spectrum of business and legal issues facing the industry today.  As a full service law firm, our experience includes working with financial institutions, developers, large and small businesses, venture capitalists and lenders of every kind.

In real estate finance, we have assisted both borrowers and lenders in securing and closing hundreds of millions of dollars in loans. These loans have financed the acquisition, development, and construction of projects of every nature, including major residential planned unit developments, mixed-use developments, shopping centers, office buildings, industrial buildings, vessels, warehouses and special purpose buildings. We have also closed hundreds of millions of dollars of conduit loans, often refinancing banks’ construction loans.  Vandeventer Black represents major shopping center syndicators, developers, and landlords. We are authorities on environmental and wetlands law and also riparian rights, with a special focus on waterfront industrial property. We handle loan workout and bankruptcy cases, primarily on the creditor side.

Vandeventer Black has the depth and experience to handle nearly all types of corporate transactions. We represent banks with asset-based loans and are skilled in corporate acquisitions and mergers as well as leveraged private placements.

Our business clients include major regional shopping center syndicators as well as developers of office, retail, industrial, and residential projects, including hotels, motels, apartments, condominiums and major residential developments. We represent a number of preferred developers for national retail chains. Also, we represent maritime vessel owners.

The firm’s multidisciplinary approach allows us to serve our clients in all aspects of a financial organization’s legal needs. Our labor and employment attorneys successfully handle matters ranging from employment practices, EEOC and discrimination claims and collective bargaining. Vandeventer Black’s litigation attorneys have tremendous depth in matters ranging from federal court litigation on loan documents to product liability and construction disputes. We have the largest construction and government contracts law group between Washington and Atlanta, in place to address the financial and creative funding issues faced with these industries, including Public-Private Education Facilities and Infrastructure Act (PPEA) and Public-Private Transportation Act (PPTA) opportunities. The firm’s maritime practice is over 120 years old and capable of taking on any type of ownership or fiduciary transaction involving boat, ship or barge construction or documentation.
