Former Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, Kelleter, Joins Law Offices of Vandeventer Black

NORFOLK, VA.

The law offices of Vandeventer Black LLP are pleased to announce that Trey Kelleter has joined the firm as an associate. Kelleter will concentrate his practice in Construction, Public Contracts and White Collar Criminal Defense law.

Kelleter received his J.D. in 1997 from The William & Mary School of Law, where he was a recipient of the Order of the Coif, graduating 9th in his class. He also received the Corpus Juris Secundum Award for excellence in civil procedure and the Paul Shapiro Memorial Scholarship for scholastic excellence in taxation. He received a B.A. in 1990 from The College of William & Mary.

Prior to joining Vandeventer Black, Kelleter served 6 years as a prosecutor for the Newport News Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. He prosecuted all types of criminal offenses, with his last two years focused on economic crimes, crimes of violence, and traffic offenses. He served as a legislative aide in the office of U.S. Senate Majority Leader George J. Mitchell from 1991 to 1994. His legislative duties focused on Senate affairs, transportation, labor, and government affairs.

Kelleter interned with the Hampton Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and the Hampton Circuit Court Clerk’s Office.

Kelleter is based in the Firm’s Norfolk office.
