Vandeventer Black Opens Law Office in Hamburg, Germany
NORFOLK VA.
Vandeventer Black LLP recently announced that the 122-year-old law firm has opened an office in Hamburg, Germany.
“This move is key to maintaining a presence in the European Union,” says Lawrence G. Cohen, who chairs the firm’s International Business Group. By having an office in Europe's second largest port, Vandeventer Black will be able to better serve its maritime clients seeking chartering, repair, construction, insurance and finance advice. And, just as importantly, it allows the firm to further concentrate on their international commercial clients. “The Hamburg office is there to help American clients establish trade opportunities in Germany and across the European Union and vice versa,” emphasizes Cohen. The Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance established a liaison office in nearby Bremen, Germany. Cohen stressed that with the currency exchange heavily weighted in favor of the euro European companies can import goods from the U.S. at low cost. “We can help them negotiate contracts with U.S. vendors that will provide them with a fair business deal and legal protection. German businesses can also take advantage of the exchange imbalance to set-up U.S. sales and manufacturing bases as well. We can provide the full range of legal and tax advice to assist them.”
The Hamburg office is located at Schaartor 1, D-20459, Hamburg Germany in the historic harbor section of Hamburg.
