Hadorn, Wycinsky & Holmes Join Law Offices of Vandeventer Black
NORFOLK, VA.
The law offices of Vandeventer Black LLP are pleased to announce that Richard P. Hadorn, Jr., Michelle V. Wycinsky and Allison Holmes have joined the firm. Richard P. Hadorn concentrates his practice in general litigation and general commercial law.
Hadorn earned a B.S. from Syracuse University, where he received Academic Achievement Award in Biology and was a Chancellor’s Scholarship Recipient, and a Certificate in Public Health (C.P.H.) from Harvard University, where he was Academic Graduate Scholarship Recipient. He earned a J.D. from The College of William & Mary School of Law, where he served as editor-in-chief of William & Mary Bill of Rights Journal, was a recipient of the Dean’s Certificate for leadership and initiative on behalf of the law school, and a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.Hadorn worked with Vandeventer Black as a summer associate focusing on commercial and business transactions, construction and public contracts, labor and employment, maritime, and workers’ compensation defense. He served as a summer law intern for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office in Central Islip, New York. He also served as summer law clerk for The Honorable Walter S. Felton, Jr. in the Court of Appeals of Virginia. Hadorn is based in the firm’s Norfolk office and will also be serving clients in the Richmond, Raleigh and Kitty Hawk offices.
Wycinsky concentrates her practice in civil litigation, construction and public contracts law and professional liability defense. Her litigation practice focuses on products liability, professional liability, construction defect, commercial disputes and breach of contract. In the area of professional liability defense, Wycinsky’s practice involves the representation of architects, engineers, project owners and contractors in a variety of construction, professional liability, employment and contract disputes and related matters. Wycinsky earned a J.D. from University of Richmond School of Law, where she was manuscripts editor and technical editor of the Richmond Journal of Law and the Public Interest, as well as athletics chair for the Student Bar Association, committee chair for the Sports and Entertainment Law Society and graduate assistant for the University of Richmond Women’s Soccer Team. She earned a B.B.A. in Information Technology from The College of William & Mary, where she was 3-time Division I NCAA All-American and 2-time Hermann Trophy Finalist (National Player of the Year). Prior to her law career, Wycinsky was a professional women’s soccer player with San Diego Spirit and was one of only 160 inaugural Women’s United Soccer Association players. In this role, she actively participated in the community teaching free clinics for youth soccer teams, and in speaking to large audiences and making various public appearances. She also wrote a humorous weekly journal for womensoccer.com detailing both her and the team’s experiences. Wycinsky worked as a summer associate with W. Edward Riley, IV focusing in criminal and traffic defense and personal injury law. She was also a summer associate with the Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy (VOPA), where she conducted investigations of public sites for violations of American’s with Disabilities Act. Wycinsky is based in the firm’s Richmond office and will also be serving clients in the Norfolk, Kitty Hawk and Raleigh offices.
Holmes concentrates her practice in civil litigation, eminent domain and land use, and municipal law. Her civil litigation practice focuses on a wide variety of business and land use matters, while her eminent domain and property rights practice centers on assisting electric cooperatives and other utilities acquire rights-of-way and otherwise obtaining land for public projects. In the area of municipal law, Holmes represents local governments in general litigation matters. Holmes earned a B.S.B.A. in Marketing from Georgetown University and a J.D. from University of North Carolina School of Law (with honors), where she served as symposium editor and executive board member of the North Carolina Journal of Law and Technology, as research assistant to Professor Thomas L. Hazen, and as a member of the 2004 Joint Journal Competition Committee and the Holderness Moot Court Negotiation Team. She is also a graduate of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. Holmes served as summer research fellow for the University of North Carolina Center for Civil Rights. Prior to law school, she used her marketing background on the sales force for the Association for Financial Professionals.She is based in the firm’s Kitty Hawk office and will also be serving clients in the Norfolk, Richmond and Raleigh offices.
